Abstract
Relationship about Crisis and Ego-Identity among Health Locus of Control of Middle-Aged Women with Health management in a Rural Area This study was to examine the relationship of the health locus of control of middle-aged women to their consciousness of crisis and ego-identity, in order to promote the health status about health management of middle-aged women in rural area The subjects were the middle-aged women dwelling in a rural area in, south Gyeongsang Namdo province. The data were gathered from November 29 in 2002 to January 29 in 2003, and for data analysis, t-test, ANOVA and correlational analysis. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The middle-aged women showed highest score with 4.09 in internal locus of control, which was followed by powerful others health locus of control with 3.74 and chance health locus of control with 3.26. 2. The participants got relatively lower marks, 2.89, in consciousness of the middle-life crisis, and their ego-identity score was relatively higher, 3.25. 3. Those who were less educated, less healthy or who had no job, scored higher in chance health locus of control(p<.05). 4. The respondents whose education level were less then high school level, who had less income or less satisfied with married life, experienced more consciousness of the middle-life crisis(p<.01, p<.05, p<.001). 5. The women who had a job or were contented with married life had better ego-identity status(p<.01). 6. Those who scored higher in internal locus of control had better ego-identity(p<.001), and the women who scored higher in chance health locus of control suffered more mid-life crisis(p<.01, p<.05). Based on the above-mentioned findings, there are some suggestions: 1. How middle-aged women in a rural area in health locus of control is associated with their health-promotion behavior should be identified study. 2. Health-promotion programs geared study toward middle-aged women in a rural area should be developed in consideration of their health locus of control.
